Settings

General, Editor, Files & Attachments and Advanced — what each setting does.

Open Kirbon ▸ Settings… (⌘,). Changes apply at once to every open window — except the interface language, which applies the next time Kirbon starts.

General

LanguageSystem, English or Русский. Changes at the next launch; Relaunch Now restarts Kirbon for you, keeping your windows.
AppearanceSystem, Light or Dark.
When Kirbon opensReopen the last documentation (default), or show the Welcome window.
Show the Welcome window when nothing can be reopenedOn by default.
Keyboard shortcutsShow All… opens the Keyboard Shortcuts window (⌘/).

Editor

SettingWhat it does
Open pages inThe view a window starts in: Visual (default), Markdown or Preview.
Show formatting controlsThe formatting group in the toolbar. When it’s off, selecting text shows a small toolbar above the selection.
Check spelling while typingIn Visual. Markdown never shows spelling marks.
Page font, Page widthThe size of page text and how wide the text column is. View ▸ Zoom multiplies them.
Markdown fontSF Mono 13 pt by default.
Show line numbers, Wrap long lines, Auto-close brackets and emphasis markers, Scroll Markdown and Preview togetherMarkdown view options, all on by default.

Files & Attachments

These settings belong to one documentation folder — pick it at the top. They are stored on your Mac, not in the folder, and only affect new pages and attachments: existing files are never renamed.

Advanced

Show file extensionsShow .md after page names in the sidebar.
Show hidden files and foldersInclude names that start with a dot.
Section page fileWhich file is a section’s page: README.md, then index.md.

Copies kept before replacing a fileMoved to the Trash.
