Search and Outline
Search Documentation, Quick Open, Filter Pages, the Outline and Page Info.
Search Documentation
Navigate ▸ Search Documentation… (⇧⌘F, or the magnifying glass in the toolbar) searches titles, headings and text across the whole folder. Results update with every key you press and are grouped into Pages, Headings, Text and matching Commands.

- ↑ ↓ move through the results, Return opens one scrolled to the match.
- ⌘↩ opens it in a new tab, ⌥↩ in a new window.
- With an empty field you see the pages you opened recently.
- Nothing found? Create the page right from there.
Kirbon indexes the folder in the background when it opens and keeps the index up to date when files change — in Kirbon or in another app.
Quick Open
Navigate ▸ Quick Open… (⇧⌘O) jumps to a page by its title or file name. Pages with the same title are told apart by their section.

Filter Pages
The Filter Pages field at the top of the sidebar narrows the tree in place, keeping the sections around each match. Esc clears it.
The Outline
View ▸ Show Outline (⌥⌘O) opens the inspector with the page’s headings as a tree, built live from the page — including edits you haven’t saved yet.

- Click a heading, or select it and press Return, to jump there. Back (⌘[) returns to where you were.
- The section you are reading stays highlighted as you scroll.
- Collapse branches with the triangles; ⌥-click collapses a whole level.
- Type in Filter headings to find a heading in a long page — Navigate ▸ Filter Outline takes you straight there.
- From the keyboard: ↑ ↓ to move, → ← to expand and collapse, Return to jump, ⌘F to filter.
- In Visual, drag a heading to move its whole section — the heading and everything under it. One Undo puts it back. Format ▸ Move Section Up / Down does the same from the keyboard.
Other ways to jump to a heading
- Navigate ▸ Go to Section lists the page’s headings in a menu.
- The last part of the breadcrumbs above the title opens a menu of neighbouring pages and the page’s headings.
- In Focus Mode, the outline button shows the Outline in a popover.
Every jump is a step in the tab’s history, so ⌘[ brings you back.
Page Info
View ▸ Show Page Info (⌥⌘I) shows where the page lives, its file, when it was created and updated, its size in words a reader sees (code, HTML and front matter don’t count), which pages link to it, its attachments and any links that don’t resolve. At the bottom it says what can be edited only in Markdown — image sizes written as HTML, HTML blocks, comments, page properties — or that everything can be edited in Visual. For a section without a page of its own, it shows the folder, Show in Finder and how many pages the section holds.
