Kirbon Markdown, beautifully organized.
A native Markdown editor for macOS. Write with focus. Organize your documents. Keep your files under your control.
Your folder stays a folder.
Kirbon opens any folder of Markdown pages — a Git repository works too. Folders become sections, a README.md becomes the section’s page, and titles come from each page’s first heading.

Made for writing documentation
Pages, sections, links, tables and callouts on top — Markdown files and folders underneath.
Native to the Mac
Built with SwiftUI and AppKit: real menus and toolbar, windows and tabs, Light and Dark appearance, full keyboard control and VoiceOver.
Plain Markdown, kept intact
Kirbon reads and writes ordinary Markdown. Parts of a page you don’t edit are written back exactly as they were, and Kirbon adds no metadata of its own to your pages.
Pages, not paths
Create, rename and move pages and sections from the sidebar. Links to a page are updated when it moves, in one Undo step.
Visual, Markdown, Preview
Edit a page visually, switch to its Markdown source, or read it in Preview — or keep the preview side by side.
Focused writing
Focus Mode leaves just the page. The Outline follows your headings and takes you anywhere in a long document.
Ready for real documentation
Tables with sorting and spreadsheet paste, callouts, code blocks with syntax highlighting, images and attachments stored next to the page.
At home on the keyboard
Every command lives in the menu bar, with a shortcut where it helps.
- Quick Open
- Go to any page by its title.
- Search Documentation
- Search titles, headings and text across the whole folder.
- Focus Mode
- Hide everything except the page you are writing.
- Show Outline
- See the structure of the page and jump between sections.
- Preview Side by Side
- Edit on one side, read the result on the other.
- Expand Table
- Give a wide table the whole window.

There is no public release yet. The documentation and the changelog will grow together with the app.
